Not sure what you're reaching for but sure Fantasia, Mary Poppins...


Fantasia was interesting b/c it did try to introduce you to say, classical music so very much a portal to the grown-up world (you thought) scary and beautiful it is an amazing film especially for a kid.

Go ahead, laugh, but Mary Poppins had a tinge of melancholy in it, the rain wiping out the chalk drawing and the imaginary romp in the park, the chimney sweeps on the bottom rung of society keeping chipper, even the dad dealing w/maintaining his place in the world, the old man dying of laughter (when presumably he hadn't done much of that before) a pretty deep movie for a kid.
